The Fresh Produce Safety Centre (FPSC) is an industry-led organisation established in 2013 to enhance fresh produce food safety across Australia and New Zealand through research, outreach and education.

Industry consultation by the FPSC identified the need to update and extend the scope of the guidelines to other parts of the supply chain and to New Zealand. Industry had found the guidelines a valuable resource but published scientific literature and food safety experience gained since 2004 meant that the guidelines were now out of date for some issues.

This new 2019 edition named the Guidelines for Fresh Produce Food Safety extends across Australian and New Zealand fresh produce supply chains and incorporates findings from the latest research on managing fresh produce food safety.
