Hort Connections visits Apex Greenhouse
AHR project partner Apex Greenhouses welcomed more than 35 growers and industry representatives as the final stop on one of the many tours held during Hort Connections 2026.
The visit gave attendees an inside look at the newly established Apex facility in Virginia, providing a valuable opportunity to explore the technology, systems, and innovation driving modern protected cropping.
Guests enjoyed a delicious lunch, provided by AHR, creating a relaxed setting for networking, discussion, and industry connection.
During the tour, Folco Faber guided participants through the complexities of operating a high-tech greenhouse. From the selection of the glass roof and advanced climate control systems through to irrigation, crop management, and the testing of emerging technologies, attendees gained firsthand insight into the level of precision and innovation involved in modern greenhouse production.
“It was fantastic to see so many growers and industry representatives engaging with the technology and asking thoughtful questions throughout the tour,” Anita Chennell said (program lead Growing horticulture through protected cropping innovation).
“Opportunities like this are incredibly valuable for building industry knowledge and sharing practical experiences.”
The tour also highlighted the important role the Apex facility is playing in supporting industry learning, research, and commercial trials, helping drive innovation and knowledge-sharing across the sector.
“We want the facility to be a place where industry can come together to learn, collaborate, and explore new ideas,” Anita added.
“Seeing that level of interest and discussion during the visit was incredibly encouraging.”
Apex Greenhouses welcomes anyone interested in viewing the facility or learning more about its work to get in touch with Folco Faber.
