New Vietnam–Australia collaboration
In August, AHR was proud to host our Vietnamese colleagues and Australian Centre for International Agricultural Research (ACIAR) partners in Sydney for two days of knowledge exchange and collaboration.
The visit was part of the ACIAR–Vietnam Partnership Dialogue, which set priorities for future collaboration with a renewed focus on Vietnam-led research initiatives.
A key outcome was the signing of a new ACIAR-funded project: Digital monitoring of VietGAP compliance in smallholder fruit value chains from the northwest of Vietnam.
This four-year, A$2.1 million initiative, co-led by AHR and the Fruit and Vegetable Research Institute (FAVRI), with researchers from Northern Mountainous Agriculture and Forestry Science Institute (NOMAFSI), and Vietnam National University of Agriculture (VNUA), will help smallholder fruit farmers digitalise production to meet global standards and access high-value markets.
By strengthening climate-smart and digital solutions, the project aims to boost livelihoods and the global competitiveness of Vietnam’s fruit sector.
The visit also provided an opportunity to explore some of AHR’s research facilities, including practical demonstrations of the MycoSense AI Spotlight technology at the Marsh Lawson Mushroom Research Unit
We are excited to continue building on our long-standing partnership with Vietnam.
