Factsheet: Seaweed Extract and Nutrient Use Efficiency

Seaweed extract can be used to effectively improve the nutrient use efficiency of lettuce plants by increasing their growth and nutrient uptake.

Based on these conducted trials, the average, Seasol-treated lettuce were larger, heavier, grew longer and heavier roots. There was less residual soil nitrate under Seasol treated lettuce, reducing the risk of nitrate leaching and nitrous oxide emissions. 

Using Seasol® may help maintain yields while lowering fertiliser inputs, which can also reduce nutrient leaching and support more sustainable growing practices.
