From field to screen: Watch the Better Diets and Nutrition project in Tanzania

The Better Diets and Nutrition project, funded through the CGIAR, aims to increase consumption of safe, healthy fruit and vegetables. Key barriers include price, quality and safety. In Tanzania, Applied Horticultural Research, together with the World Vegetable Center, Wageningen University and University of Sydney have been examining the issues of chemical and physical contamination of fruit and vegetables. The team have also been finding ways to reduce postharvest losses and maintain quality in supply chains.

The project team has just released two short documentaries covering their work so far in reducing postharvest losses and improving food safety. Both videos are available to watch below.

The next stage will build on these findings to create a "Safe, quality vegetables" brand, empowering local consumers in Tanzania to access safe, nutritious produce.
